Slow Fashion

Slow fashion is a major focus at Pen to Peg. We want people to be proud to be working with a company that places so much more emphasis on the quality, style and sustainability of a product than its price or the speed at which it can be produced.

We encourage upfront research into what your customer really wants, we co-design with potential wearers to get right down to what their needs are desires are. Pre- design phase we look at the competition and get familiar with the offerings already on the market. Taking time to ask your community want they want either through social media or newsletters means less waste in the long run as you are creating garments that they have already expressed they want to buy.

Pen to Peg encourage sustainable fabrics that will outlive all the throw-away fashion on the market. Timeless, classic and well thought out designs win over every time. Some people think they are helping the environment by purchasing what appears to be well-made cotton garments and avoiding polyester. In reality what they think is sustainable shopping is in fact, just one step away from the fast-fashion treadmill. One cotton T-shirt takes 2,700 litres of water to make. This is enough water for one person to drink for 900 days.

Fast, cheap, poor quality product tends to be worn once or twice, maybe snapped for Instagram, Snapchat, or TikTok, and then discarded, usually ending up in landfill. Much of this clothing waste is shipped to huge landfill sites in Africa or Asia, becoming invisible to the shopping population of the UK.

Slow fashion means buying less but buying better, giving the manufacturers the time to produce the product ethically and to a high level of quality. A focus on slow fashion leads you to produce quality, uniquely designed clothing that will last, becoming a favourite in your wardrobe that you will wear and wear.
